ISSUE #10 Spring 2018

Douglas David Seifert details the full impact of the latest development plans on the Maldives and explains why it is making the threat of coral bleaching even worse. Mark 'Crowley' Russell calls on the UK Foreign Office to drop the ban on direct flights to Egypt's Sharm El Sheikh. We showcase the awesome photographs of Alfred Minnaar which focus on divers in the zone. Plus lots of other treats and delights…

Can the Maldives survive political chaos, rampant development, coral bleaching and global warming? Read Douglas David Seifert's in-depth analysis of the challenges facing one of the world's leading scuba destinations. Plus a stunning portfolio of what is at stake - the wonderful reefs and vibrant marine life.

Tech divers from around the world gather in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia, to check out the deep walls, learn from some of the best instructors, and to hang out on the hip and bustling island. South African photographer and former dive instructor Alfred Minnaar, 35, has been taking stunning images of the divers there for the past four years. One of his obsessions is that moment just before they hit the water.

Jerzy Kowalczuk dives a 130-year-old wreck preserved under the ice of Lake Huron in Canada.

Whale sharks of Galápagos: the latest research & fascinating folklore. An exclusive excerpt from Josef Litt new guide to the ultimate dive destination.
